Verification and Validation of a Methodology to Numerically Generate Waves Using Transient Discrete Data as Prescribed Velocity Boundary Condition

This work presents a two-dimensional numerical analysis of wave channel and oscillating water column (OWC) device. The main goal is to validate methodology which uses transient velocity data as means impose boundary condition for the generation waves. To achieve this, was simulated using regular waves with same parameters those used in laboratory experiment. First, these were imposed prescribed compared analytical solution; then, OWC device inserted into computational domain, aiming this methodology. For analysis, fluid dynamics ANSYS Fluent software employed, tackle water–air interaction, nonlinear multiphase model volume (VOF) applied. Although results obtained through use discrete presented little disparity; general, they showed good agreement experiment results. Since many studies waves, there lack ocean realistic data; thus, proposed stands out its capacity sea state simulations regarding energy converters (WECs).
